4 Useful Tricks For Cleaning a Fibreglass Shower

If you have a walk-in fibreglass shower enclosure then you will know how difficult it can be to clean. Fibreglass enclosures have been a constant source of problems for many over the years as these showers in particular have a tendancy to get especially dirty if not properly maintained over the months and years. Soap scum can build up very easily over time and become unsightly. After a certain point, most home owners will simply give up as they do not know how to clean their shower properly. It's true that it may not be common knowledge how to thoroughly clean the shower properly, however there are a few techniques and home remedies that you will be able to use to ensure that your shower looks as good as it did the day you installed it.

A safe bet is to try using one of the many commercial cleaners that are on the market. You may wish to approach a kitchen specialist to see which brand they recommend. Commercial cleaners tend to be effective at eating away soap scum. The other benefit is that they are readily available and relatively inexpensive for something that is so easy to use.

For those who prefer to use products that are just lying around the home, you may find that vinegar and baking soda make for a powerful combination when cleaning a fibreglass bath. Try cleaning the fibreglass with a little bit of baking soda mixture and it should help to get rid of the stubborn soap scum that covers it. Once you have given it an initial scrub, try cleaning the shower with a small amount of vinegar. You should find that the vinegar bubbles up a bit and will help you get to the bottom of the grime. This should result in a sparkling clean finish.

Another home remedy which you may wish to try on your bath and shower is to rub pure alcohol over it. This should work especially well if you have stained areas on your bath tub. If you pour the pure alcohol onto the affected area then the stain should be removed quickly. This is an extremely easy and cost effective way to clean your bath and shower enclosures.

This may be something of an unorthodox method for cleaning a fibreglass shower enclosure but you will find that oven cleaner is a surprisingly effective solution. Oven cleaner contains some powerful ingredients that are designed to power through some the most stubborn grime. Because the buildup of dirt inside your oven is (hopefully) much worse than in your bathtub, oven cleaner should work wonders at getting even the most difficult of stains out.

You should let the oven cleaner soak into the grime and soap scum for a while, then take a magic eraser to the area in order to remove anything that has been left behind. This combination of methods should result with an amazingly clean finish to the fibreglass enclosure.

Now you should have a sparkling clean bathroom that you can be proud of!
