5 Extra ordinary Wedding Favors and a Wedding Theme to Match

Wedding favors … probably one of the more frustrating “things” you have to come up with for your big day. You want ideas and eventual choices to be different: to be a kind of wow response from your guests, and from your bridesmaids and theirs have to be even more special. Keep the aspirins handy. With all the planning you have to do, thinking about favors and deciding on them will jump into your thoughts unannounced and while you are in the middle of making other important decisions.

Your family, friends, and overall guests will talk about your wedding – every aspect of it - before during and after its actual happening. Family will likely be the most generous and the most critical when it comes to the favors you choose: after all, they’re family – it’s what they do. Regardless, you want everyone to be smiling and wishing for an instant replay when it’s over. And, you want them to be commenting about how fantastic, how different, their wedding favors are and where did you ever come up with them. Not an easy feat, especially when you’ve put such expectations on yourself.

One nice thought would be to ask each guest to put down their birthstone on their rsvp card so that small crystals, the color of each one’s birthstone, can be ribboned on a satin/silk holder at their respective table seating. Another possibility is to have a silk orchid wrapped around the stem of a wine goblet (plastic) with the flower itself resting in its cup and placed at each setting.

A miniature top hat and gloves made out of glass, plastic, china, for the men; and, maybe a miniature pair of silk or satin gloves for the women held together by a small ring. Or, perhaps a small faux leather wallet for the men and a small Chinese-like purse for the women with a lottery ticket in each one. Still another, is having an wicket arch covered in flowers (with stems and small safety pins) which the bride and groom stand under for the ceremony after which the guests can come and take their choice of flower – a boutonnière for the men and a single flower corsage for the women.

A most memorable favor that a bride and groom can give their family and guests is the ambiance under which they get married. A wedding can be built around a season. For instance, in the spring you could have a Japanese cherry blossom décor with real cherry blossoms around the alter and laid on each table with two miniature silk/satin cherry blossoms wound around each other and put on each setting. A fall wedding can be set in the autumn foliage colors with prism-like lighting so it reflects those colors during the reception with comparable colored scented candles for the guests to take home.

Just let your imagination run wild, and if your thoughts are too jumbled ask your fiancée, family, and closest friend to join you for a creative jam session. You’ll probably end up with more ideas than you thought possible. Talk it out: think it out: then when you are by yourself see which one makes you smile the most and also makes you cry with feelings of happiness and sentimentality. The one that does that will be the one that will give you some of the most beautiful and most magical memories to share with your husband and your children in the years to come.
